Dave Roberts is a self-taught pastel artist who was born in Aberystwyth in 1968 and now lives with his young family in a listed farmhouse near Nannerch in Flintshire, where he has a small studio and gallery that can be visited by appointment. Dave’s specializes in landscape paintings, particularly of Snowdonia and the Clwydians. His work is the antithesis of what most would imagine a pastel painting to be; they are generally bold and vivid, with lots of detail. Commentators appreciate the almost photographic quality of the some of his pieces.
Dramatic skies and water feature heavily and he is generally to be found walking in the mountains at sunrise or sunset to capture the best light. Dave is pleased to undertake commissions. Dave won both a Society Award and The Edmund Douglas-Pennant Award for the most popular work (public vote) at the North Wales Society of Fine Art exhibition at Penrhyn Castle, 2012.
